AUSCRS is back face-to-face

The Australasian Cataract and Refractive Society (AUSCRS) meeting is a real highlight on the calendar. It attracts top international and local refractive surgeons, and is a fun and down-to-earth meeting with robust discussions between delegates. Academic meetings can sometimes get a bit dry and boring, but AUSCRS spices it up with themes and costumes for each session (thus the crazy mirrored outfit I’m wearing in the photo!).

I chaired the session “Smoke and Mirrors: Trends in Refractive Surgery”, with speakers presenting innovative techniques and experience with laser vision correction. I presented on the “Early Experience with the Schwind Atos femtosecond laser”. I’m proud to be one of three surgeons who comprise the team at the Lions Laser Vision. We were the first Laser vision centre in Australia to acquire the new Schwind Atos femtosecond laser, that does LASIK and Smartsight procedures.
